Comms Lead
Seeking a dynamic Comms Lead to make Byway and slow travel famous to scale our impact. Partner with our CMO and CEO to orchestrate our growth through PR, partner and creator relationships.
We’re looking for a Comms Lead
We’re looking for a driven, hands-on Comms Lead to make Byway and slow travel famous in earned media. You’ll be responsible for keeping our press and media output moving at pace, working closely with our retained PR agency, to turn strong ideas into coverage that supports Byway’s brand, partnerships and growth.
Reporting to and partnering closely with the CMO, you’ll help shape our external narrative, build momentum around key stories, and support the CEO’s media profile. You’ll act as a central connector across press, partnerships and creator activity, working closely with colleagues to spot opportunities and make them happen. This role suits someone who enjoys taking ownership, building relationships, and delivering high-impact communications in a fast-paced, mission-driven business.
We help holidaymakers love their journeys
We're not just another travel company – at Byway, we're pioneering slow travel holidays with Journey AI, the world’s first tech for journey-based trips. We’re a certified B Corp committed to making flight-free travel mainstream and building an inclusive business. Since our inception in March 2020, we've booked over 20,000 travellers onto unforgettable holidays, with over 95% five-star reviews. We’re growing 2x YoY and are regularly featured in the press, including the Guardian, BBC, and New York Times.
Your key responsibilities
Run our day-to-day PR activity and PR agency relationship, turning clear briefs into strong ideas, press releases and high-quality coverage across travel, lifestyle, consumer and national media.
Develop and maintain close working relationships with travel journalists and editors, serving as a responsive, trusted point of contact and creative story collaborator.
Plan and deliver press, celebrity, and influencer trips in collaboration with the Creative Lead and Content Lead, ensuring brand alignment, multi-touchpoint creative production, and strong storytelling.
Partner with the CMO on communications priorities and support the CEO’s media profile through proactive pitching and setting up speaking opportunities.
Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to shape and deliver partner-led PR opportunities that benefit both brand and commercial goals.
Track coverage and impact, sharing clear insight on what’s landing well, what is driving bookings and where to lean in next.
A core part of performance in any role at Byway is to live up to our Byway values, exhibiting behaviours aligned with our values, on a daily basis. Read more here.
