Head of Comms (4 days per week)
Seeking a dynamic Head of Comms to make Byway and slow travel famous to scale our impact. Partner with our CMO and CEO to orchestrate our growth through PR, partner and creator relationships.
We’re looking for a Head of Comms (4 days per week)
We’re looking for a strategic, high-impact Head of Comms to lead Byway’s international earned growth strategy. You’ll be responsible for driving global awareness and directly generating bookings through world-class PR and a high-performing ambassador program.
Reporting to and partnering closely with the CMO, you’ll own our external narrative, build momentum around key stories, and proactively develop the CEO’s profile as a global thought leader. You’ll act as a central connector across press, policy, and advocacy, working closely with colleagues to drive systemic change across the industry. This role suits someone with significant comms experience, ready to take on end-to-end commercial accountability and make great things happen without a team of people reporting in.
We help holidaymakers love their journeys
We're not just another travel company - at Byway, we're pioneering slow travel holidays with Journey AI, the world’s first tech for journey-based trips. We’re a certified B Corp committed to making flight-free travel mainstream and building an inclusive business. Since our inception in March 2020, we've booked over 20,000 travellers onto unforgettable holidays, with over 95% five-star reviews. We’re doubling YoY and are regularly featured in the press, including the Guardian, BBC, and New York Times.
Your key responsibilities
Own earned media growth globally - strategy, management and execution. Lead directly and through others, partnering with our Content Lead, Creative Lead, agencies and freelancers.
Architect and execute a comprehensive profile-building strategy for our CEO, positioning her as a leading voice in sustainable tech and travel.
Own the strategic direction of our ambassador and creator programmes, ensuring brand alignment, commercial ROI, and high-impact storytelling across platforms.
Partner with the CMO, Head of Partnerships and Head of Sales to shape and deliver partner-led PR opportunities that benefit brand and commercial goals on a global scale.
Drive consumer-facing policy communications and government advocacy, building influence with key decision-makers to increase our impact on the travel industry.
Provide senior-level reporting on coverage and impact, using data to prove how earned media is driving bookings and where to pivot strategy.
Embrace and lead the adoption of new technologies, including AI, to broaden the reach and impact of your role, using them responsibly and creatively while retaining full accountability for your outputs.
A core part of performance in any role at Byway is living up to our Byway values, exhibiting behaviours aligned with them on a daily basis. Read more here.

Commercial mindset with experience of being directly responsible for growth targets.
Proven success in building executive profiles and proactive thought leadership
Experience scaling high-impact ambassador/creator/influencer programs.
